How To Prevent Error 740 Messages

If you tried to use RunAs.exe to elevate a program to running under another user account, you may ran into an error message like “740: The requested operation requires elevation”. That was because you can not use RunAs.exe to elevate a program with none built-in administrator account.

I found a workaround to resolve this problem.

Try RunAs /user:YourDomain\UserAccount “CMD /C start /B program.exe

It should run the program under the domain or local account you specified without any error.

I had to add the /d \”pathToFile\” option to your example in order to make this work for some apps that aren’t in the existing file path.
